WHAT'S NEW AT TALENTLIFT

Your Canadian partner for hiring global talent

Posted on February 5, 2025 by Dana Wagner

TalentLift is a Canadian non-profit international recruitment agency, with deeply-held beliefs that transcend borders in the value of human dignity, security, and fulfilment.

The United States is threatening to impose steep tariffs on Canadian goods, and the Canadian companies producing them may be exploring made-in-Canada options to respond.

Political leaders across party lines are encouraging Canadians to buy Canadian:

“Now is the time to choose products made right here in Canada. Check the labels. Let’s do our part. Wherever we can, choose Canada,” said Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister and leader of the Liberal Party of Canada.

“We’ve got to find ways to sell more to ourselves and the world,” said Pierre Poilievre, Leader of the Official Opposition and leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.

“There’s never been a better time to choose an amazing Ontario-made or Canadian-made product,” said Doug Ford, Premier of Ontario and leader of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario

If your team is reviewing your list of suppliers, including your recruitment and relocation services providers, here’s what we want you to know about TalentLift:

TalentLift is a full-service, non-profit international recruitment agency – and registered charity – founded in Canada in 2021. We specialize in finding Canadian employers the talent they need within refugee populations, as an impactful solution to both skills shortages here in Canada and displacement worldwide. Canada is the first country to pioneer a unique visa program that opens up this impactful form of recruiting, soon followed by Australia and the United Kingdom, and TalentLift works alongside the Government of Canada and the UN Refugee Agency to create a smooth experience for employers and the candidates they hire.

TalentLift supports the end-to-end process of recruitment, immigration, and relocation.

Our non-profit fees are deliberately lower-market compared to industry averages. Our retention rate is very high, over 90% after one year of work, so this is a cost-effective solution – in addition to an impact-driven solution – to addressing a talent shortage.

Employers have had wonderful experiences recruiting with TalentLift. We often hear that it’s a great thing to be part of someone’s journey from being a refugee, to having a good job and life in Canada. You can check out some short clips of a few employers as well as candidates sharing their experiences here – or you can meet César (Engineer), Aliu (Fire/Field Service Technician) or Lucie (Office Administrator).

Our team is incredibly passionate about what we do. We know that excellence in recruitment and relocation enables our hiring partners to continue working with us, and unlocking more opportunities for talented folks in displacement.

And, like most people in Canada, our team has American family members, friends and family living in the United States, and favourite cities, athletes and creators across the country. And we love American things, and use them (a lot, like software) in our work. We can’t wait to get back to regular relations with our neighbour.

Our mission at its core is about equity and human potential. We and our hiring partners enable talented people living in tough refugee situations to meet their potential by removing unfair barriers and extending opportunities. We couldn’t do this work without deeply-held beliefs that transcend borders in the value of human dignity, security, and fulfilment. So many of the problems that squander and limit these values have only global solutions. We can’t go it alone. Global awareness, respect and partnerships are non-negotiable for wellbeing everywhere.

We want this Canada-first moment to be about building a more human-first future.

And we look forward to helping you meet some talented new colleagues.
